The 8th graders paid a visit to the Jewish Heritage Museum in Manhattan. The trip tied together the work they were doing in the classroom learning about WWII in history, reading Night in ELA, and preforming monologues of real Holocaust survivors in public speaking. The visit to the museum included tours and talks by survivors and ended with a look out onto the harbor and a view of the Statue of Liberty over a garden of trees growing out of rocks, symbols that there is hope, life, and liberty even in the darkest of times.
