Donating through an Investment Retirement Account or Donor Advised Fund

If you are 70 and ½ years old or older, you are required to withdraw a “required minimum distribution” from your IRAs each year. You can satisfy all or part of that requirement by giving up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to a qualified charity like Brooklyn Jesuit Prep. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.
