Saturday Program: Christmas Extravaganza

On December 6th, we held our annual Christmas Extravaganza Saturday Program. Students decorated cookies and played holiday bingo, where winners received Christmas presents. As always, we ended our program with lunch, shared by students and volunteers. We are so grateful to a group from St. John's University who returned for another year to work with our students. Our volunteers make Saturday Program possible. If you'd like to participate in a future Saturday Program, please fill out this form and a member of our team will contact you.

Winter Sports and Activities

One vital aspect of our extended school day is sports and activities. Each season, students choose new activities to participate in. During the winter, extracurriculars include yearbook, step, and cooking. Pictured above are three of our sixth grade girls who had just finished making cookies. Not only do these clubs help students foster deeper connections with each other, it also helps students have a role in other initiatives around the school. The cookies baked during last week's cooking club were Christmas-themed and were used during our Christmas Saturday Program!

5th Grade Retreat

On December 4th, our fifth grade class participated in a retreat day at school. The theme of the retreat was Creating Community: Generosity, Inclusion, and Forgiveness. Our fifth grade students are the youngest in our school. They are often new to Jesuit education, retreats, and are entering an era of growth and learning. The goal of this retreat is to help create community amongst this class with the goal of building strong bonds early, helping to set the tone for their next 4 years at our school. The day consisted of team-building activities, reflection, and time together.

Trip to the Botanical Garden

On November 13th, the seventh grade class took a trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Students observed various plant types and see exhibitions throughout the garden. Field trips allow students to see what they're learning in the classroom come to life. One student shared that the recent trip to the Botanical Garden was a highlight because she got to see how "plants react to their environments." These excursions also allow our scholars to speak to various professionals and gain exposure to new career fields, in this case horticulturists!

Students of the Month

Each month, we award four students with a certificate that celebrates their abilities to embody core values of our school. We are proud of our Students of the Month for November 2025! Chelsey, Asher, Aidan, and Hunter were presented the Gratitude award for consistently appreciating others, expressing kindness, and recognizing the positive things around them. These students help make our school a better place by showing thankfulness for their peers, teachers, and school. This has helped foster a warmer community. We're thankful to these students for their reflectiveness and positivity!

Thanksgiving Potluck

We're thankful to the BJP team and their partnership with our newly established Family School Association (FSA) for executing a successful potluck lunch for our students. The holidays are wonderful for many reasons, and the opportunity to gather is one of our favorites. Our families are an important part of our mission. They often serve as volunteers for school-wide events like potlucks, camp departure days, and even our annual back to school BBQ. We are grateful to partner with families on all that we do. Thank you, to the FSA and other volunteers, for making this year's potluck meaningful for students.
