High School Signing Night

High School Signing Night is an undoubtedly magical evening. Eighth graders and their families gather with our teachers, high school partners, and some close members of our school community to celebrate the high school acceptances of the Class of 2025. Amongst the 10 schools represented at this year's event were: Andover, Cathedral, Xaverian, and Loyola. Associate Director of Admissions at St. Peter's Prep, Michael Wright, joined us at the podium to share more about his experience with the three boys who will be attending his school next year. The admissions process takes all hands on deck. Ms. Prime, 8th graders, families, and high school teams have all worked together to get our students into the best programs with the best financial aid possible. We are so proud of our eighth graders for their hard work and accomplishments.

Career Day

On April 2nd, we welcomed volunteers to this year's Career Day. Professionals from a variety of industries including accounting, medical, fundraising, and communications joined our students to give presentations on their current fields. Our scholars learned not only about the day in the life of these individuals, but also the journeys they took to get there. We are grateful to Dr. Hyacinthe, at SUNY Downstate, for his role as our keynote speaker. He spoke to our students about the importance of and responsibility behind diligent research and reporting, a skill vital to all careers. Each presenter came with unique trajectories that provided our students with broadened insights and ideas. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day happen, especially our counselor, Ms. Doino, who coordinated this day!

Students of the Month

We are so proud of our Students of the Month for April 2025! Rebecca, Gianna, Arianny, and Teaira were awarded for their demonstration of Citizenship which refers to "the quality of an individual's response to membership in a community." These students were acknowledged for bringing warmth to their peers and teachers. They have been kind and welcoming to those around them and help inspire a strong sense of community at BJP.

Stations of the Cross

On April 17th, our students prayed the Stations of the Cross and walked through the story of Jesus’ final steps. This Easter, we celebrated symbols of transformation, hope, and new life which included students decorating butterflies to celebrate and rejoice in the Resurrection. We’re reminded of God’s infinite love and the beauty of new beginnings. As a community, we reflect on what it means to show love, courage, and compassion, just like He did.

Alumni Basketball Tournament

The 3v3 Basketball Tournament turned into an open gym of games, laughter, and joy. As many alumni were away on break or locking down on finals, a few of our basketball stars showed up to showcase their skills. Tomar '21, Alveirys '24, and current student Tristan '25, who stepped in as a substitute player, finished as our winning trio. Daniela '12 helped keep score. Ms. Prime said, "meeting Daniela was such a highlight, she's a fellow St. Joseph HS grad just like me. All the boys were a pleasure to hang out with. Creating spaces for our young people to connect and have fun is such a great opportunity. Thank you, also, to our partners at Bishop Loughlin and Coach Gonzalez for hosting us. I look forward to more opportunities like this."

Step Team Exhibition

On Saturday, April 12th, our step team journeyed to Queens College to participate in the annual Catholic High School Athletic Association's annual step competition. While our girls did not compete, they were able to have an exhibition in front of the judges and other schools. Some of our 8th graders will attend the very schools that were in the building. They were fortunate enough to meet the coaches and see their future teams in action while getting a sense of what the competition was like. We were also lucky to see two alums at the event, both of which are current students at Xaverian High School. It's wonderful to see some of our students continuing step into their high school years and developing their skills with their new teams.
