Back to School BBQ

On October 3rd, we welcomed our students, families, and staff to our annual Back to School Barbecue. This event is a chance for us to get together in celebration at the start of the year. The afternoon consists of food, games, music, and lots of time together. It's important to our community that we find time to gather. We're grateful to our parents for their support and partnership. Our kids bring a light to our building, daily. It takes a village to teach and care for every student and the ability to celebrate the start of a new school year remains one of the most exciting events of the year!

Student Government

Over the last few weeks our students have written and presented speeches to their peers advocating for why they're the best class and school representatives. Student government allows our kids to step into leadership roles and learn move about advocacy, public speaking, and care for community. We have watched them listen carefully and incorporate the concerns of their fellow students into their campaigns. We're excited to see every representative lead their classes throughout the year, including two of of our eighth graders that are twins! We're proud of our student leaders.

Mass for the Care of Creation

On October 8th, we celebrated Mass for the Care of Creation. Thank you, Fr. Brian Konzman, SJ, for leading us in prayer and reminding us of the call to find God in all things. This sermon took place on a rather rainy day. Fr. Konzman's invited us to reflect on the power rain has to slow us down and connect with God's earth. He also reminded our students of their time at camp and their ability to see the stars right from campus. His words invited us to reflect not only on the beauty of the natural world but also on our responsibility to protect and preserve it. May our actions reflect the gratitude we feel for the gift of creation.

Alumni Highlights: Deliya '18

Deliya, Class of 2018, is a talented young artist who works with her sister on designing rugs, shoes, and other mediums. We're grateful for her work both over the summer and at our Back to School BBQ. Our current students got to know her as their counselor at Camp. She spent many hours with our students. It was no surprise that she was met with open arms when she returned to help us with face painting at this year's barbecue. The face painting table had a line the entire duration of the event, thanks to Deliya's undeniable talent. Thank you, Deliya, for continuing to show up for BJP!

Annual High School Fair

On October 1st, we welcomed various Catholic high schools to BJP! We were grateful to the admissions representatives and alumni who attended the fair to talk to our current students and families about their schools. It was inspiring to see our graduates represent their new communities so well. As our eight graders begin their high school application process, it's important for them to speak first hand with folks who can provide firsthand insight on what to expect. We're grateful to the schools listed above and all of our partner high schools for embracing BJP's scholars and for their commitment to continue providing our scholars with a rigorous education.
