Honoring the Memory of Melissa Garville

Melissa Garville served as a volunteer, board member, and Gala committee member at Brooklyn Jesuit Prep (BJP). Her involvement at our school began in 2015 during a Holy Cross College Cares Day. From the outset, Melissa not only immersed herself in the BJP community but also actively engaged her broader network in support of our mission. In 2020, Melissa tragically passed away. In her memory, her parents, Greg and Chris, established the Garville Scholars Program to honor her life and commitment to service.

The Garville Scholars Program provides vital support for student scholarships, educational field trips, and high school tuition assistance, which we call last-dollar aid. Melissa’s service to BJP combined with her parents’ establishment of the program has fostered over ten years of impact on our students.

This year, we are proud to honor Melissa’s memory. We are deeply grateful for her passion and unwavering commitment to our mission, and we are equally thankful to her parents for carrying forward her legacy with such generosity and love.
