Brooklyn, and Beyond!

On Sunday, March 15, the President of BJP, James Kennedy, will run across the Brooklyn Bridge as part of the New York Road Runners NYC Half-Marathon.

Mr. Kennedy with current BJP scholars.

Dear friends,

This Sunday, I will be running the 2026 NYC Half in support of Brooklyn Jesuit Prep and its students.

I am especially looking forward to this race, in part because it begins in Brooklyn, crosses the majestic Brooklyn Bridge, and ends in Manhattan. As I reflect on this year’s half marathon, I cannot help but make the connection of what this journey symbolizes for our students.

Our young people begin in our halls in the 5th grade, becoming more aligned with both our school's mission and their own vocations each day. As BJP scholars and graduates, they prepare to take steps towards higher education. Many will eventually travel to Manhattan–and beyond–as they further themselves as confident and capable young men and women. While the bridge I will cross on Sunday is purely physical, their trajectory is much more significant: it is a journey not only to the world outside of Brooklyn, but also to becoming leaders of tomorrow.

Please consider a donation, of any amount, in support of our students. Because of the generosity of our community, 93% of our $2.5 million budget is supported by philanthropy. It is a privilege to provide our young people with this opportunity for a scholarship. Your gift for these 13.1 miles will help guide our students’ growth for years to come.

Thank you for your consideration.

James
